Author Dan Burkhardt is pictured above at the book’s final press check with designer, Sarah Herrera. Though born in Michigan, Burkhardt has become a champion of Missouri conservation causes. He and his wife Connie own a 220-acre farm near the Katy Trail in Marthasville, Missouri. This farm is the home of Bethlehem Valley Vineyards, and it was also the inspiration for the Katy Land Trust, a conservation organization that seeks to keep land in agricultural and forestry use.
