owlsSign up for a guided walk on the Katy Trail with professional naturalists from Missouri State Parks. In addition to a beautiful walk on one of Missouri’s most popular state parks, you will learn to identify and remove Missouri’s most harmful invasive plant, bush honeysuckle. This will not only remove harmful invasives, but gather valuable information on how the plant is spreading along the Trail.

Volunteers should meet at the Treloar Elevator on the Katy Trail at 10:30 a.m. (5 miles west of Marthasville on Highway 94). Vans will take hikers down the trail 4 miles east and 4 miles to the west for the Honeysuckle Hike back to Treloar. During the walk on the trail, naturalists will discuss native plants, wildflowers and wildlife and what can be done to control invasive species.

Following the Honeysuckle Hike back to Treloar, all are invited to the annual Treloar Elevator Party for a community celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. Food and cold drinks will be available (all proceeds to the Marthasville Volunteer Fire Department). The River Rats band will providing music throughout the afternoon.
